Sensorimotor Training

Sensorimotor training is an individual developmental activity that uses exercises for movement, coordination, balance, body awareness, and motor planning.

The goal of the training is to help the child better sense their body and movement, improve coordination, and plan and perform different movements more smoothly.

The work starts with mapping the child’s skills and needs. Based on this, exercises suited to the child’s age and developmental level are chosen. Activities are as playful as possible and can be continued at home if needed.

The content and goals of the training are chosen individually, and the child’s progress is monitored throughout.

Training may be worth considering if a child has difficulty with, for example:
– Acquiring age-appropriate motor skills
– Balance and coordination
– Body awareness
– Motor planning
– Smoothness and accuracy of movement
– Performing various movement tasks
